ShovelWhen it comes time to build a new machine, gamers might have one more good reason to look at Dell instead of taking the barebones approach.

Dell just announced that they will make it less painful to buy one of their new machines:

Dell.com customers buying an XPS system, Inspiron notebook or Dimension desktop can select a “no software preinstalled” option. This will eliminate productivity, ISP, photo and music software, but not everything.

Finally they listened and have provided an option for customers to not have all the shovelware pre-installed on a new PC. About time!

Bee the pirate catStill working on making this stuff work. Need to do quite a few things still in order to fix the site.

  • Forums are working now, click comments below and it wil take you there, or just goto The Forums
  • The template I’m using for the blog is incompatible with the forums so I need to re-do the entire template from the ground up, and make it usable by both the forums, and the blog.
  • Need to finalize the primary background art on the site before finalizing the template below, or else I’ll have to do all this a third time.
  • Once the template is done I need to make sure everything still works (the blog itself, all RSS feeds, trackbacks, plugins, comments, vbridge comments, user vbridge, permalinks, and of course the entire forum
  • Once the forum looks like the rest of the blog add the other forums and subforms for posting (Gamer forums, generic forums, platform specific forums, genre forums, etc..)
  • Need to fix a few things in the wp-admin crap when posting, to make sure the vbridge always posts comments into the news section
  • Need to make sure the text encoding is correct between Wordpress and Vbulletin so cross posted posts won’t have bullshit characters in it
  • See if I can fix the iframe in the wp-admin:write section for Uploads. Broken right now.
  • Need to setup the admin forum section and verify access is correct, then upload posting standards for everybody
  • Need to post forum rules and regulations in the General forum
  • Users that are forum moderators and blog editors need to be hand edited to be able to re-edit the site once I get everything working again

That’s pretty much what I’m doing this week off the top of my head. I expect the site will be up and fully functioning by next week so we can all post and edit in the forums. Then the fun begins.

    Word.

I’m sure you have seen them, heard about them, been confronted by one, hell you might even be one. I’m talking about fanboys. People so heavily devoted to their system, whether it be Xbox, PS3, Wii, Mac, checkers, whatever, that they are blind to all else in the world of gaming.
What brings on such fanatisim? What makes them love their system so much? Or better yet why? Why do they love their game company with such devotion? What has the company actually done for them? Well I can tell you they are certainly taking their cash. Being a Sony fanboy these days requires you to sell your mother on the sidewalk. And it doesnt matter where you live on earth the fanboys always appear. You’ll be in your favorite game store browsing the Xbox games and someone comes by and tells you “That game is better on the PS3″. And the Xbox boys will tell you that Halo is the only game you will ever need. And the girls and boys with Nintendo……are there any Nintendo fanboys left?
Well it doesnt really matter what their system is. The simple fact is that they are only cheating themselves if they lay loyalty on only one system. I can’t imagine a world without Zelda, Halo actually is a good game despite how much I want to hate it’s particular breed of fanboy, and Sony has the worst fanboys of all with Final Fantasy and Metal Gear. Both of which have been declining in quality making their fans even more annoying.

Fullsize GyrussGyruss was an arcade classic in the mid 80s. Merging gameplay from Galaga and Tempest with a unique (for the time) graphic and audio presentation that stood out among the other arcade machines.

So, seeing Gyruss (one of my personal favorites) show up on 360 Arcade, Yay!, I rushed to download it, fully expecting to max out my achievements in just a few hours and truly enjoy the old arcade classic re-realized. Well, not so much…
